SEASONAL CROSSOVER DRESSING

I don't own very many clothes. I may love them, but I don't own many. Which makes the seasonal crossover extra difficult (considering that we're getting snow/sleet in NY in APRIL). Now, I know that I've probably pulled the denim shorts out a couple of months prematurely but - I've almost got it working with the help of the trench. Granted I look like a flasher from behind, but it's a really great in-between season piece and one that I often seem to forget about. This one is perfectly floppy and slouchy and I've been working it into my work and casual wear scenarios. Expecting to really wear this guy in in the coming weeks!

Long flowing trench coat, Zara | White shirt, American Apparel | Similar denim shorts, Urban Outfitters | Black bag, Mimco | Shoes, Converse

FALL14 RTW ROUNDUP (PART II OF II)

Max Mara

Milly

Rick Owens

Rochas

Simone Rocha

Sonia Rykiel

Theory

Topshop Unique

Valentino

Victoria Beckham
---

And in no particular order the rest of the best!

Max Mara, Sonia Rykiel, Theory & Victoria Beckham all delivered inspiring minimal results - love. And I was particularly into the styling of Milly and Topshop Unique. Rochas & Simone Rocha both blew me away with an endless endless sea of pieces that couldn't possibly be closer to perfection. The shapes, the mixes or fabric, the incredible mix or effortless and put together... amazing. Valentino - oh god - the lace, the colors, the gentle yet edgy feminine styles and the accessories! Gimmmmmme.

And last but not least - Rick Owens there just aren't enough words. He didn't just stun with yet another sublime collection, but what also added was his mix of "relatives" who modeled the beautiful clothes. Some were models, friends and employees. What a muse move.

-----

I don't usually do trend roundup's on here - mainly as it's redundant info by the time it's up on yet another blog. But, as I was finally getting a chance to sift through the Fall RTW14 shows (granted it's embarrassingly late this eason) there were certain things that kept repeating. So, I thought that it might at least be fun to switch things up a little and show some of my favorite "trends" for a change, as well as the usual highlights/roundups which are to follow shortly.

Also, have to say that I'm so pleased to see some of my favorite faces including Julia Nobis, Hanne Gaby Odiele & Jamie Bochert walking more shows than I can count!

Key takeaways for the season:
Colors: Teal, gray, metallic & pops of color in evening wear
Textures: Lace, leather & wool
Styling: Coats to be belted, necklines to plunge & anything can/should be oversized!
